چکیده

The deficiencies in previous quantitative models for buyer–supplier coordination in a just-in-time (JIT) environment are corrected. An expanded model incorporating additional factors is developed and the factors are ranked through a detailed numerical analysis. Factor ranks are then compared with results of a series of semi-formal interviews with supplier and purchasing representatives. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Single-Setup-Multiple-Deliveries for a Single Supplier-Single Buyer with Single Product and Backorder

This article investigates integrated production-inventory models with backorder. A single supplier and a single buyer are considered and shortage as backorder is allowed for the buyer. The proposed models determine optimal order quantity, optimal backorder quantity and optimal number of deliveries on the joint total cost for both buyer and supplier. Two cases are discussed: single-setup-singl...

Optimal pricing, shipment and payment policy for an integrated supplier-buyer inventory model with two-part trade credit

In this article, we develop an integrated supplier–buyer inventory model with the assumption that the market demand is sensitive to the retail price and the supplier adopts a trade credit policy. The trade credit policy discussed in this paper is a ‘‘two-part’’ strategy: cash discount and delayed payment. That is, if the buyer pays within M1, the buyer receives a cash discount; otherwise, the f...

An economic order quantity with imperfect quality and quantity discounts

Previous studies in the issue of inventory models with imperfect quality assumed the defectives could be sold in a batch by the end of the inspection process and the manufacturing systems were push systems. However, the above assumptions may not be true in the pull system in which buyer is powerful. Therefore, in this paper, we develop a new inventory model for items with imperfect quality and ...

Incorporating Buyer Behavior to Drive Supply Chain Operations

Exogenous demand assumptions provide accurate results at the retail level. As we go in the supply chain, the orders of the buyers get more complicated. The orders are influenced by both the decisions of the supplier and the costs of the buyer’s operations. Therefore, it is critical for a supplier to understand the ordering behavior of a buyer in order to manage her operations. We consider a two...

Integrated JIT Lot-Splitting Model with Setup Time Reduction for Different Delivery Policy using PSO Algorithm

This article develops an integrated JIT lot-splitting model for a single supplier and a single buyer. In this model we consider reduction of setup time, and the optimal lot size are obtained due to reduced setup time in the context of joint optimization for both buyer and supplier, under deterministic condition with a single product. Two cases are discussed: Single Delivery (SD) case, and Multi...
